Two early Acheulean handaxes, two re-used Palaeolithic flint flakes and one other flint flake were found in the Cow Meadow gravel pits in the early 20th century.

Full Description

{2} Finds made in c. 1904-13; two early Acheulean handaxes, two re-used Palaeolithic flint flakes and one other flint flake; found in the Cow Meadow gravel pits c.SP759599.

{5} 2 Pa Handaxes and l unretouched flake found - Cow Meadow, Northampton (SP 760602). Now in Northampton Museum.

{7} Coe Meadow/Beckett's Park. Two hand axes and three flakes recorded from gravel pits. Now public park.

{9} Northampton Museum have a large collection of material from Cow Meadow; the above finds could not be identified but are doubtless included.
