Full Description

{1} Two ditched mounds situated on the former Rushton parish boundary. The mounds are 50m apart and both enclosed within a rectangular area surrounded by an overgrown hedge. The western mound is approximately 24m in diameter and over 3m high on the downslope side with a 6m diameter depression in the top. It appears that the former parish boundary passes through the west mound. They could be windmill mounds but their relationship with the parish boundary suggests that they pre-date it, unless they belonged to Pipewell Abbey which may have held land on both sides of the boundary.

{2} Two adjacent mounds, possibly follies/ornamental but for which estate? About 2m high X 20m diameter, covered with trees. Other at SP86758540. Not far from the late Storefield mount that was a Roman barrow.
