Full Description

{5} Grade II Parkland, formal gardens and wooded pleasure grounds of 3.6ha. The garden was based on a 17th century layout with 19th century additions. The pavilions and colonnades, by Inigo Jones, survive from the 1630s house. Victorian terraces have been placed between the pavilions, with ornamental ponds. There is also an informal wooded area with paths. The house was formerly set in an 18th century landscape but this is now mostly farmland. The former deerpark to the north west is now included in Stokepark Wood.

The formal garden around the house has been restored to an approximation of what it was before the fire of 1886.
