Full Description

{1} Fieldwalking and trial trenching were undertaken ahead of the Fina pipeline; Possible Iron Age activity was located to the south-east of Lyveden New Build. A slightly elevated area and a concentration of stones, some 15-25m across, abutted the corridor on the west, and a trial pit dug on the edge of the stone scatter located a shallow ditch. A few fragments of soft black pottery were recovered from the surface, and the filling of the feature. The sherds seem most likely to be of Iron Age date, although this is not certain.
