Full Description
{1/2} Roman coins of Tetricus, Claudius II and Constans are recorded as having been found in the area known as Lake Meadow before the early 19th century
{2}. A skeleton is also said to have been found there
{4} and more recently pottery of the 3rd century has been found at the N.E. corner of the area during building work. Dug up at the time of Inclosure.
{6} Scattered Roman finds and a possible inhumation have been found close-by, although recent investigations have found no further evidence for Roman activity in the vicinity of the site. A Roman small town lies 800m to the north of the site, but little investigation has been undertaken.
{7} Roman settlement (SP 496364). A skeleton is said to have been found, and more recently pottery of the 3rd century has been found at the NE corner of the area during building work.
