Full Description

{1} Pond shown in 1741.

{2} Field name: The Angles. [Possible association with fishing/angling.]

{3} Pond immediately south of Big Waters, at the junction of two valleys. The interior of a long rectangular pond, now totally overgrown, is occupied by narrow parallel banks over 0.25m high. The pond and its banks are shown on the estate map of 1741. No purpose can be assigned to the site, except that it may have been used for breeding wildfowl.

{4} A more complex system of water channels, banks and islands is shown on the surveyor's map of 1812. The site, which was fed by Big Waters, may also have included Sewell's Pond, c.80m to the west.
