Full Description

{1} The southernmost pond contains water. Presumably these are the fishponds of the priory or Weedon Castle.

{4} Earthworks of 3 rectangular depressions surrounded by substantial banks

{5} Fishponds of the Benedictine cell are in Church Close on the south side of the church

{6} Three rectangular ponds cut down into the valley bottom are edged by scarps up to 1.5m high and each has a dam 0.5m - 1.5m high at its south east end. The upper dam is much degraded and the others have modern cuts through them. The stream now flows in a channel almost 2m deep, cut into the rising ground on the south west side of the valley. Nothing is known of the history of these ponds, although they are traditionally said to have belonged to the priory.

[7} Fishponds of the Benedictine priory cell are in Church Close on the south side of the church.

{8} At Weedon are some fine fishponds and vague earthworks of the former monastic settlement of Beauvais.
