Summary
Observation of the excavation of Water Board trenches along Gas Street in 1975 identified at least three metalled road levels, clay and soil levels down to nearly 2m. The road levels are associated with the route of Horseshoe Lane, prior to the insertion of the Gas Street roundabout.
