Full Description

{1} A small Roman settlement located on Cornbrash and overlooking a large meander of the River Nene between Ringstead and Woodford. The settlement was identified by surface remains, supplemented by a magnetometer survey covering almost 1ha. Magnetometer survey carried out (with poor results due to geology). Two overlapping enclosures and short lengths of ditches revealed.

{2} A small Roman settlement identified by surface remains, supplemented by a magnetometer survey covering almost 1ha. The pottery shows minor concentrations with little variation throughout the Roman period. A small number of coins from metal detecting survey; predominantly Gallic Empire issues (259-275), but two House of Constantine coins suggest activity into the mid fourth century. The magnetometer survey identified parts of two overlapping enclosures and short lengths of other ditches, but the results were poor.
