Full Description

{1} Excavation of 1972 by P.Everson, in the vicarage garden. The stone walls and a clay floor of a C13-14th house were revealed. Also an associated yard with postholes, pits and medieval pottery including Lyveden ware.

{3} Excavations west of the Saxon church revealed the wall of a late C13th house with a single course of stone wall footings. Also associated rubbish pits and a good range of Lyveden and other local shelly wares. This presumably marks the maximum extent of the medieval village not shown on the earliest cartographical record of 1686.
