{1} Dark area with burnt stone, building stone, late sherds etc. Hill top site in old coppice, but presumably clear in Roman times? Not that much pottery. A linear hollow below- glacial or hollow way?. Iron slag at SP 9673 9169. Is RCHM ref for Benefield this on
