Full Description

{1} The remains lie each side of an old lane running north-south, which widens out at the southern end. The land to the east of the lane is now under arable cultivation and ploughing has produced an area of stone and building rubble associated with medieval pottery.

{2} Building and foundation 3ft deep; 13th-14th century pot sherds [NB.this description might refer to pipeline development rarther than Hall's fieldwlaking.].

{3} To the east of Cotton Lane long-term ploughing has levelled the earthworks, although their former presence was indicated by stone and pottery scatters.

{4} A third complex of buildings in the ploughed field to the east was indicated by an area of building rubble associated with medieval pottery (marked 'H' on Fig.1.4).
