Monument record 6782 - East Haddon Hall Park

The gardens were laid out by Gertrude Jekyll and Lutyens in 1897, but only a fragment of the formal rose garden survives.

{7} Lutyens and Jekyll are supposed to have laid out gardens around the hall in 1897, but these are now mostly lawn. There is a plan for the grounds in the house that is distinctly 'Blomfieldian' in its elements of balustraded terracing and 17th-century historicist garden houses. The only elements of either scheme to survive are a rectangular pool with square extrusions at each corner at the rear of the house and a fragment of the rose garden to the west of the house.

{8} Part of the parish is old inclosure, the rest open field. The Lordship is divided between Sr John of Bletsoe, successor to Andrews family, Sir Justinian Isham of Lamport, Sir John Hamble of Thorp Underwood and William Ward of Houghton, Esq.
