Full Description

{1} Cropmark; unclassified. Lies in area of ridge and furrow.

{2} A detailed geophysical survey on three fields to the south of Tansor identified a series of probable archaeological features including a circular anomaly, possibly a ring ditch, c30m in diameter. In the field to the south were four curvilinear enclosures; the largest, at 100m diameter, had two internal curvilinear enclosures and clusters of discrete pit-type anomalies both internally and externally. A sub-rectangular enclosure was detected in the east of the area. A further curvilinear enclosure was detected in the south-west of the field and may also have been detected in the field immediately to the south.

{3} An archaeological watching brief was maintained during soil stripping for a site compound. The soil strip did not extend below the subsoil and no archaeological features were uncovered.
