As part of wider excavation of a Saxon cemetery to the east, evidence of Roman occupation was identified.

Full Description

{1} {2} Excavation of three shallow depressions which contained coarse gritty pottery, charcoal and animal bones, three hearths and an occupation site 12ft in diameter which yielded one sherd of Samian and other better quality sherds. TL070958.

{3} As part of the excavation of the Saxon cemetery to the east, traces of Roman occupation have been discovered. Finds include pottery, building materials, charcoal and animal bones. In addition, shallow depressions and at least three hearths are recorded
