Monument record 3112/0/1 - Houses & Gardens Abandoned Pre C18th

{1} The surviving earthworks are slight and have been disturbed by a temporary hospital erected during WWII, and by the straightening of the Irchester to Rushden road in 1967, which removed the hollow way shown as a through-road on the map of 1769. South of the present road is a series of disturbed earthworks, most of which are the remains of houses and gardens already abandoned before the C18th. Those in the area north west of the hall lie on the site of buildings still standing in 1769.

{4} South of the road, centred on SP937662, is a disturbed area identifiable as of wartime military origin with intermingled earthworks probably of the deserted village.
