Monument record 3222 - Probable prehistoric/Roman settlement, north-west of Poplars Farm

Summary
Two conjoined rectangular ditched enclosures and a trackway of probable Iron Age or Roman date are visible as cropmarks on aerial photographs. Located in a field NW of Poplars Farm, a rectangular ditched enclosure up to 3.5 metres wide encloses an area about 36 x 30 metres, joined by its east side to a second rectangular enclosure that encloses an area some 33 x 28 metres. The south sides of both enclosures form part of the north side of a double ditched slightly curvilinear trackway some 175 metres long, the southern parallel side of the trackway being separated by about 8.5 metres.

Full Description
{1} Air photographs show two small enclosures attached to the north side of a ditched trackway; traces of what appear to be three sides of a rectangular enclosure are visible, 250m to the south;
{2} Air photographs taken 1970 show a squarish and a sub-rectangular enclosure of 1/4 and 1/3 acre. Attached to the north side of a ditch trackway. Boulder Clay;

Located in a field about 560 metres NW of Poplars Farm and centred at SP 91451 61505, a rectangular ditched enclosure up to 3.5 metres wide encloses an area about 36 x 30 metres, joined by its east side to a second rectangular enclosure that encloses an area some 33 x 28 metres. The south sides of both enclosures form the western end of the north side of a double ditched slightly curvilinear trackway some 175 metres long, the southern parallel side of the trackway being separated by about 8.5 metres.
