Summary

Three probable kiln sites dating from circa 50 AD to 100 AD with finds of wasters and grass tempered kiln debris were located during fieldwork along with Iron Age pottery.

Full Description

{1} The site is known by the farmer, who indicated the gatepost under which the Romano-British kiln was discovered at SP91235787. A few sherds of Romano-British pottery were found on the plough, but no other surface features observed. The kiln site was surveyed at 1:2500. Update note on OS card dated 25/03/1974.
