Surface finds of Iron Age and Roman pottery, a fragment of a quern, a fragment of a bronze bracelet and part of a bronze toilet set. Areas of dark soil indicate the presence of pits and ditches.

Full Description

{2} Field name: Denton Barn. Iron Age and Roman pottery found from 1961. Patches of dark soil suggest the presence of pits and ditches. Portion of a quern, fragment of a bronze bracelet. The site extends to the west of the Whiston-Denton road and Iron Age and Roman pottery has been found in the area of SP838590.

{3} Iron Age and Roman pottery, part of a quern and part of a bronze bracelet. Patches of dark soil suggest the presence of pits and ditches. Part of a bronze toilet set was also found.

{4} Piece of bronze toilet set found by fieldwalking December 1972.

{7} Mr Hollowell confirmed the siting and said that the pottery, 3 or 4 small pieces, was not retained.
