Full Description

{1} Fieldwalking in 1957 recovered Romano-british pottery sherds, kiln waste, medieval pottery sherds and worked flints.
[The grid ref. given in the Northampton Museum topographic general file is SP817592 for the finds from both 'The Piece' and 'Salt Box' fields.

{5} Roman pottery and worked flints have been found over an area of 50 sq. m (centred SP 817594). A pit filled with rubbish, including kiln debris, is recorded (SP 818599).

{7} SP 818 594: Romano British and medieval sherds found 1957 onwards by R H Hollowell. Now in Northampton Museum. Flint flakes 1964. Romano British rubbish pit including kiln waste.

{8} Mr Hollowell said the material from this site which he retained was found spread over an area of approx 50 yards square. Nothing further was found during investigation.
