Full Description
{1 Medieval settlement or enclosure (SP 850738) 1200m SW of the village, on limestone at 107m above OD on the edge of a narrow valley. On air photographs taken in 1947 there appears to be a sub-rectangular enclosure just over one hectare in area and bounded by a low scarp or bank. Though not clearly visible on the air photographs this enclosure appears to have ridge and furrow over it.
{?} Fieldwalking recovered Romano-British pot sherds and roof tile and medieval pottery.
{3} Medieval sherds, including some Llyvden ware, were found at SP 850738 whilst field walking to check cropmarks visible on OS 6" APs (nothing visible on available APs). A sunken bridle way was also observed to cross the area, passing from the DMVs Wythemail (SP 87 SW 1) and Badsaddle (SP 87 SW 8) to the W. Some Roman sherds and a piece of roof tile were also found.
{4} Mr J.R Fox confirmed the above site and stated that the finds, in his possession, were made from 1966 onwards.
The site falls on arable land and no surface remains were seen.
