Full Description
{1} Up to six skeletons found by workmen were believed to be Saxon, although no dating evidence was found.
{2} A walled charnel pit pit identified immediately south of Orient House. It had probably been excavated in 19th century, but the date of the disarticulated bone placed in it was probably Saxon or medieval, although there was no dating evidence apart from a possible medieval coin and three fragments of bronze studded coffin. The bones were swiftly reburied. Apparently, when the churchyard was refurbished in 1911 and new paths were put in, interments of 'large-boned skeletons' were found. Possibly those identified here.
