Full Description

{1} An unlocated Bronze Age Celt was found pre 1837. Three Bronze Age socketed axes found c1871.

{2} There is a drawing of one (No. 171) in Northampton Museum.

{4, 5} Four bronze axes are recorded as 'found in Wellingborough'; one prior to 1837, simply described as a bronze celt {4} and the other three about 1871, descrbed as socketed {5} . George refers to all four, citing Coles for the single one and 'Sir H Dryden' for the other three.

{6} Local museums and Societies have no additional information.
