Roman coin, pottery and iron slag finds have been interpreted as a possible Roman villa

{1} Roman Settlement (SP 876922) in the, S.W. Of the parish, on clay at 66 m. Above OD. A scatter of Roman pottery, covering an area some 80 m square, is recorded, associated with a piece of roof tile, a flint core and some iron slag

{2} SP 87639220. Roman material, including pottery and iron slag found in 1973.

{4} Fieldwalking in November led to the discovery of a scatter of Roman pottery covering an area some 250 ft. square. The wares represented are mainly coarse grey with mortarium and colour coated fragments. There were also a roof tile fragment, a flint core and some iron slag
