Summary

A 'mace-head', probably pre-Roman, found at East Farndon. Also the base of a Roman jar. No known association between the two. Both at Market Harborough Museum Summary from record 4240/0/0: Part of the base of a Roman vessel was found somewhere in the parish. Summary from record 4244/0/0: A possible spindle whorl has been found in the parish.

Full Description

{1} A 'mace-head' [small hour-glass, perforated stone - spindle-whorl ? ] 'probably pre-Roman' found at East Farndon. Accession. No. 11. A Roman 1st. c. A.D. base of a jar, found at East Farndon. Accession. No. 22. [ Both displayed. No evidence of association, no further details known.]

{2} It is possible that the perforated stone is an attempt at a model of a Bronze Age mace-head. However, the resemblance may be fortuitous.

{3} No further information was gained in field investigation.
