Full Description

{1} Two fields on the east side of Millway were developed in 1978. The lower field had been quarried in the 19th century, but archaeological remains were noted in the upper field. A series of walls, both straight and curving, were found, some probably building foundations. A small area of paving adjacent to a length of wall, pits and a ditch, 7m wide and at least 20m long, were also recorded. Pottery dating to the Roman, medieval (12th-16th centuries) and post-medieval (17th century) was recovered but none of the features was directly dated.

{4} This site may be associated with the Roman settlement to the E. SP 76 SW 4.
