Monument record 5110/0/3 - East Lodge, Moulton Park

One of two lodges associated with Moulton Park. Both were in existence by 1397 and survived until about 1861 when they pulled down. East Lodge is said to have lain on the site formerly occupied by Moulton Park Farm, although a possible moated site to the north may mark its original position

{1} Moated Site (?) (SP 775646), lay 250 m north of the former Moulton Park Farm, on Boulder Clay at 124 m above OD. Air photographs taken in 1947 show the almost ploughed-out remains of a roughly square enclosure, 50 m. across and surroundede by a ditch. By 1953 the site had been destroyed. Though not certain, it was probably a small moated site, possibly for a deer park keeper's lodge and thus the predecessor of the Moulton Park Farm.

{Source unknown} The East Lodge of Moulton Park was in existence by 1397 and pulled down c.1861. It is said to have lain on the site now occupied by Moulton Park Farm ie.SP77556435 although the possible moated site to the north (at SP775646) may have been its original location.
