Summary

A ditch was traced in foundation trenches for 30m. It contained Anglo-Saxon pottery (including some wasters) and slag in its upper filling.

Full Description

{1} Features revealed during housing development include a ditch with Anglo-Saxon pottery in its upper layers.

{2} A nearby ditch contained Anglo-Saxon pottery and slag in its upper filling.

{3} Iron Age features were revealed in house foundations to the north of the roadway and a ditch containing Anglo-Saxon pottery to the south. The ditch on the south side of the road was traced over a distance of 30m and contained Anglo-Saxon pottery (including some wasters) and slag in its upper filling. It was not possible to excavate the lower layers of the ditch.
