Full Description

{1} St Peter's Bridge carries the A428 over the River Nene. Six cast iron arched members with lattice work in spandrels were cast at the Eagle Foundry in Northampton circa 1843.

{3} Near mills of Rush Nuns, a cast-iron bridge erected over River Nene in 1842.

{4} In 1842 Barwell built St Peter's Bridge, Northampton. This bridge has now been replaced by a modern one but it was similar to the Luton Hoo bridge to such an extent that models of the latter were used during the construction of the Northampton bridge. By this time, Edward Barwell had become a leading citizen of the town and was Mayor of Northampton from 1843 to 1845. His old partner, Thomas Hagger was also Mayor Northampton in 1839 and again in 1852.
