Full Description

{1}Electricity generating station in Angel Lane; modern;

{2} By October 1890 the engines had been delivered and installed in a newly built engine room in Angel Lane. This building still stands (SP754 603). The first two engines were by Scott & Hodgson at Guide Bridge. They were vertical compound engines with wood-lagged-cylinders and ran at 200 revolutions per minute. Each drove Crompton bi-polar dynamos by cotton ropes from the grooved flywheel.
