Summary
The site of a Royal Observer Corps monitoring post. The site was built as part of an extensive network of posts designed to confirm and report hostile aircraft and nuclear attacks on the United Kingdom. It was opened during January 1962 and closed in September 1991. At the time of the Defence of Britain survey the site was found to have been destroyed. It was located underground by a trig station on the north side of a field boundary. 100 yards west of the A361.

Full Description
{1} In summer of 1965 RAF decided that no longer required services of ROC in low-level reporting role; last 280 or so active overground structures became redundant; Chipping Warden post resited to Aston le Walls in 1960; ngr 505519; 1962 became underground protected post accommodation for nuclear role; still in use in Oct 1968;
{2} The photographs show surface features of this underground post in good condition but it has been demolished since 1988. AA confirmed on 04/01/01 that there had been an Orlit B ROC post at this site prior to the U/G post. He confirms that both are now demolished;
{3} It was opened during January 1962 and closed in September 1991. It was located underground by a trig station on the north side of a field boundary. 100 yards west of the A361. Visited by Sub. Britt. 29/11/98; described as being totally demolished.
