Full Description

{1 & 2} A scarp to the south of the hillfort was also surveyed. It extends well beyond the line of the hillfort defences and is therefore unlikely to be related. It clearly cuts into the valley side and uneven hollows at the surface support the view that the feature is the result of quarrying presumably for the extraction of the ironstone outcrop. Dating is uncertain since the scarp is not shown on any map, including the 1972 1:2,500 Ordnance Survey map. Contour survey, Fig.8.
