Full Description
{1} A single posthole and earthen layers of Romano-British date were revealed but excavation was too limited to identify structures along the Alchester Road frontage.
{2} A large posthole with one possible C2nd pottery sherd was located between the road-side ditch and a small area of stones to the south, forming the only vestiges of potential structures fronting the road. Other Roman deposits comprise layers of yellowish brown clayey loam (3,4 and 19). These had 55 sherds of pottery all dating late 1st to 2nd century. Also a clay dump (12) with three sherds of possible 2nd century pottery. The size of the excavation was too small to identify structures along the street frontage.
