Full Description

{1} Large rectilinear pond, measures approximately 40m x 25m. With two dams - the lower of the two is lined with blue brick slabs overlying stone retaining wall. Stream runs into pond. 4 sherds of medieval pottery found at SP 8645 9128 dated to approximately 13th century - which suggests the pond cannot be earlier than this. Pond either built as an ornamental feature of landscape park or later converted to this use. Pond seen on maps of ?1615, 1806, 1815, 1822 and 1856.
