{5} The little conduit was supplied with water from a spring known as the conduit-head in a field to the east of the town (where St Andrew's hospital now stands). It stood in the south-west angle of All Saints churchyard. It was an octagonal building of Decorated design ornamented with a pierced parapet and having a series of square traceried panels, two to each face, immediately below the parapet. It was surmounted by pinnacles which had to be removed in 1851 after damage by a gale. The small conduit was erected at the time of the extension and rebuilding of the town which began in 1300. In 1831 a large tank was built on Wood Hill, at the south-east angle of the churchyard and the little conduit was taken down.
