Full Description

{1}Fieldwalking carried out to try and locate deserted medieval of Little Newton. Failed to discover any earthworks, but settlement evidence, in the form of sherds of pottery dating from 11th to 14th century, were discovered on an ironstone knoll 140m south west of the isolated church of St Faith's. Pottery included Stamford ware, medieval shelly wares and green glazed Stanion/Lyveden wares. The site lies between Little Newton church and the the settlement of Great Newton - could be site of Little Newton or Newton's third Domesday manor.
