Full Description

{2} St Andrews Church, situated at the west end of Regent Street, in St Andrews Square, partly on the site of the ancient priory of St Andrew, was erected in 1841, by public subscription. It is in the Early English style by EF Law. It consists of a nave, north and osuth aisles, and a small break of about 12 feet at the east, suiting the purposes of a chancel. The tower is 96 feet high, terminating with four pinnacles. The pinnacles on the east end were taken down after falling into decay. The roof is open, showing the whole of the timbers and boarding, which are of grained oak. An arcade is formed around the chancel, on the east panels of which are emblazoned, in old English characters, with illuminated capitals, the Ten Commandments, the Lords Prayer, and the Creed.
