Full Description
{1}Cropmark; 1981; ditches and pits; indistinct but probably archaeological; G Foard 20/10/81;(1);NCC Aerial Photograph :SP9774/18(+);
{2}Cropmark evidence and magnetometer survey undertaken on the surviving remains indicate at least two phases of activity with a series of rectangular enclosures on one alignment and cross cutting ditches on another. The settlement appears to be bounded by a single ditch 130m long to the east of the settlement and a double ditched droveway (1757/1/3) to the west.
Double ditched droveway associated with enclosure system, if alignments of this drove road and Romano-British road (1757/1/1-2) are projected they would form a junction under the modern road. Droveways probably provided access to villa buildings.
