{1} Roman settlement (?)(centred SP 550417), S of the village on Upper Lias Clay at about 125 m. above OD. Small scatters of Roman pottery and tile as well as worked flints and one arrowhead have been found dispersed over an area of 10 hectares. Inf D J Barrett.
