Full Description

{1} In 1291 licence was granted for the friars to unite the course of a spring called Triwell running in three directions between Northampton and Kingsthorpe, and for it to lead to their house via a subterranean conduit provided they paid for the damage to private property by doing so. The damage was assessed to be one mark.

{3} In 1278 the friars attempted to gain a better water supply and applied to the king for the necessary permission. Permission was granted to build up and cover the head of a spring in the fields of Kingsthorpe and lead water through a conduit to their house. The spring here was called Froxwelle. It is assumed that this scheme fell through because of the expense. In 1290 the friars made another attempt, this time for a spring called Triwell.
