Building record 1160/270/1 - St. Katherine's Church

The church was built by public subscription in 1838 using stone from a quarry on the Kingsthorpe Road on site close to the medieval chapel of St Katherine. It was demolished in the 20th century, with the graveyard becoming a Memorial Garden.

{2} Notes from Wetton:"….in 1838 the present St Katherine's Church was erected….design by Mr Wilcox….architect in this town. It is built with stone from a quarry….on the Kingsthorpe Road….seats 1200 persons. It was erected by public subscription….".
