Full Description

{1} A Roman coin and supposed Romano-British pottery. The coin was blank and convex on the obverse and had on the reverse a tailless horse to right beneath a cresecent and pellet, and above the horse near edge of coin the arms of Victory, part of wings of Victory, 2 pellets and two crescents. Dated to around 50BC to 50AD. Weighed 92 grams.

{2} A Gallo-Belgic E gold coin was found on the site of the Dolphin Hotel between Gold Street and Woolmonger Street in 1889.
'Romano-British' pottery was reported found on the same site.

{4} I.A. coin "found in Gold Street, Northampton, in 1889. This coin passed into my hands and has been on loan at the Northampton Museum since 1899". Evans type B:8 (uninscribed AV stater, one
of the so-called "coins of the Morini, imported Gaulish acc. To Allen: Belgic Dynastics, Arch XC (1944) 30 Mack type 27 or 27a).

{6} Coin still in Northampton Museum.

{7} The Grand Hotel is at SP 75326040; the coin is retained by the Northampton Museum.
