Full Description
{1}Two distinct concentrations of flint recovered from fieldwalking. Larger concentration of 286 flints in 8ha occurred in same area as Iron Age/Roman cropmarks (1816 / 1817). Majority of group is of late Neolithic/early Bronze Age date with small Mesolithic and post-Beaker Bronze Age component.Smaller concentration to the west contains 19 flints from 1ha. High proportion of scrapers and retouched forms suggests beaker or later date.
{2} Two concentrations of flint were identified during the reconnaissance. The largest, some 8ha in extent, occurs in the same area as the cropmarks, whilst the smaller scatter some 100m to the west is only 1ha in size. The intervening area and to the north and west probably contain alluvium which masks the full extent of the scatter. The large concentration was mostly formed by regular and irregular debitage with some parent material. The latter classes have a wider distribution with scatters occurring upslope to the south, whilst the regular debitage ia largely confined to the valley bottom. Very few implements were found while scrapers had a general distribution.
