Horsemarket led south of Marehold to the crossroads with Gold Street. The continuation south was Horseshoe Lane.

Full Description

{1}A N-S road route from/to Mayorhold to juncton with Gold Street and Marefair.

{2}A N-S road route leading from/to Mayorhold. To the south the road joins with the E-W routes of Gold Street and Marefair and top of Horseshoe Lane.

{3} Photo of buildings, noted as the side of Crick's, dated October 1967, now demolished;

{4} The Horsemarket, sometimes called Horsemarket Street, seems to have occupied the same site since the days when Northampton first became a market town. First documentary evidence of it is as a boundary in a deed of the reign of Henry II, c1225.
