Full Description

{1} Water board trench cut across road - about 2.40m deep, natural was not reached. Below a depth of 1.26m were two waterlogged black clay layers (presumably alluvium) which produced a number of medieval finds including leather off-cuts, fragments of shoes, several pieces of wood, animal bone, a piece of iron slag, a fragment of coarse fabric and several early medieval sherds were found.
