Full Description
{1} Two wells. One has been capped. The second measures approximately 26 feet deep (to solid base with approx 4-5 feet of silt). The water is about two metres below ground level at present. The well is stone lined with the top three metres being constructed of brick. The hand pump is located near by. A wooden pipe made from a whole tree trunk and hollowed through the centre was removed from the well. One end of the pipe had been formed into a socket to fit to a similar pipe or possibly the pump.
{2} The wells are presumably contemporary with the house. The wooden pipes were used in many wells at Flore, being fabricated by Les Phillips, wheelwright, and usually fitted by his uncle Tom Phillips, up to 1937.
