Full Description

{1}Concentration of 52 early-middle Saxon pot sherds over area of 4ha; low density scatter in 41ha surrounding this may suggest manuring scatter;

{2} The densest concentration of early middle Saxon pottery was found at Bottom Farm and consisted of 52 sherds extending over an area of at least 4ha. It is bisected by the now disused C19th railway, thereby possibly masking the true pottery distribution. A low-density surface scatter covering some 41ha to the south and east of the main concentration may represent manuring.
