Full Description

{1} The gardens were originally laid out by Sir Reginald Blomfield, but are now considerably enlarged and altered by Gen. Ferguson (1939).

{3} Gardens of a formal late Victorian axial layout with compartmented area and sunken garden. Although Gotch states that the gardens were laid out by Blomfield, his biographer, Richard Fellows, makes no mention of Polebrook.
