Full Description

{1} A large stone structure was exposed at the north end of the site by a mechanical excavator. This was identified as a Romano-British corn drying kiln, and was subsequently excavated by the amateur archaeologists. The feature had flat slabs on the floor at the furnace end, similar to the T-shaped example excavated at Wakerley. There were also large flat slabs standing vertically in the filling which had probably originally capped the flue.
