Earthworks suggest former extent of Long Buckby

Full Description

{1} Settlement remains, centred SP 623675, now destroyed by modern building suggests the site of an early development of Long Buckby. An early focus of settlement here would explain the siting and orientation of The Mounts castle (SP 66 NW 2) better than the later medieval village centre which was possibly re-planned on its present site c.1280. Earthworks of closes and hollow-ways recorded on air photographs prior to destruction.
